Welcome back. Great is His faithfulness.
NOTE: Greek Word of the day- κοινόω koinóō, koy-no'-o; from G2839; to make (or consider) profane (ceremonially):—call common, defile, pollute, unclean.
Mark 7:15
“There is nothing that enters a man from outside which can defile him; but the things which come out of him, those are the things that defile a man.
Isaiah 58:1-11
We see in v. 1 that the Lord is calling the prophet Isaiah to rebuke the people loudly, LIKE A TRUMPET that was traditionally blown when a fast was called see Joel 2:15:
Joel 2:15
Blow the [a]trumpet in Zion,
Consecrate a fast,
Call a sacred assembly;
- we see here in scripture the people are showing outward religious piety that hides wickedness in their hearts. Fasting and other ascetic acts does indicate virtue. The Blessed Augustine reminds us that even heretics fast!!! God will NOT SEE these actions if we MISTREAT others. It is GOD who chooses that we humble our own soul . "A sacrifice to GOD is a broken spirit" (Psalm 50(51):19. We see in vv.7-8 that the gospel is both social as well as redemptive. First, the physical needs must be met, and then the spiritual needs can be statisfied. Our physical needs to be done with a purity of heart to help us get established on the right foundation with Christ. v. 9 the Lord says, 'Behold I AM HERE' - God answers the prayers of the righteous. He sometimes reveals His presence through circumstances, and sometimes with a still, small voice, but always He will help us to know and to truly understand that He truly dwells with us. We see in v. 11- GENERATIONS OF GENERATIONS: The inheritance of all the faithful will never be cut off.
"Fast for the glory of God, fast with a pure heart. Work on ourselves because this is the time for ourselves to draw closer to our Lord. We should all live to do His Will and not our own, we should all bear each other's Crosses because we all have different callings. Let the Lord use your spiritual gifts for good do not hide but let your lights shine."

Genesis 43:26-31 & Genesis 45:1-16
This passage, is coupled with Genesis 45:1-16, and is read on WEDNESDAY Vespers in the sixth week of Great Lent. We see in v. 28 how Joseph honored his father Jacob by blessing him in God, this demonstrates he knew God's grace. By honoring his father Jacob, he honored God.
Genesis 45:1-16
We see in v. 1 that Jospeh made himself known to his brothers despite them selling him into slavery in Egypt. Jesus makes Himself known to His own brethren.
John 10:4: And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. John 10:14: I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, andam known by My own. Hebrews 2:11: For both He who [a]sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren,- even though his brothers sold him into slavery it was actually God who sent Joseph to Egypt. He was sold for profit by his brothers, it God sent him to save lives and reserve a remnant. God overcame sinful purposes with His saving purpose, just like Christ dying for our sins, and overcoming all injustices for all of mankind's salvation. See how the Lord in v.9 make JOSEPH lord of all Egypt, but He made Jesus Lord of all the world - (see Acts 2:36; and Acts 10:36).
Proverbs 21:23-Proverbs 22:4
Proverbs 21:24: "Desires kill a slothful man, for his hands choose not to anything."
DESIRES: are seen as blameless passions, and these passions need to be kept under control. We see in scripture a SLOTHFUL MAN refuses to control his desires. He chooses not do anything about his spiritual laziness; so than his desires will control him. Fasting with a pure heart and all for the glory of God helps to keep these desires in check and from them getting out of control.
Proverbs 21:26: "The sacrifices of the ungodly are an abomination to the Lord, for they offer them lawlessly."
"The alms that please the eyes of our Redeemer are not those granted in unlawful ways and from lawlessness... We are plainly warned by the Holy Scripture not to get anything by sinning under the pretext of almsgiving." (GrgGt).
John 12:8
8 For the poor you have with you always, but Me you do not have always.”
Numbers 6:24-26
“The Lord bless you and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
26 The Lord [a]lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.” ’
