"THE WORD IS GOD"
John 1:1-3
The Eternal Word
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
In the beginning is recalling the creation story found in Genesis. The first eighteen verses of John 1 is revealing to us the new creation in Christ.
Was the Word (Greek- "LOGOS") The Word is eternal Son of God. We see in scripture "was" is indicating existence without reference to a starting point and this emphasizes the Word's eternal existence without beginning. "LOGOS" also means "wisdom" "reason" and "action" it also means "word"- these are all attributes of the Son of God.
Numbers 6:24-26
“The Lord bless you and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
26 The Lord [a]lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.” ’
