Good morning. Great is His faithfulness.
"GODLY SORROW"
1 Corinthians 7:10
For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.
"Allow the Holy Spirit to reveal to you the gravity of your sins. Ask the Spirit to clearly show you how God views yoir character. When you see your sin from God's perspective, you will experience godly sorrow." (Experiencing God Day by Day devotional, page 195).
The scriptures tell us that feeling sorry is not enough. We need heartfelt, godly sorrow and this produces repentance and diligence. It's by true repentance that cleanses us from sin and alienation, and diligence zealously pursues holiness and reconciliation to God. By doing this we continue on the path of salvation to eternal life. The sorrow of the world is feeling sorry that we were caught in the first place. It only centers on ourselves, and on our embarrassment over the situation we find ourselves in. This stops short of repentance and reconciliation to God.
Numbers 6:24-26
“The Lord bless you and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
26 The Lord [a]lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.” ’
