Welcome back. Great is His faithfulness.
Luke 17:11-19
Ten Lepers Cleansed
11 Now it happened as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. 12 Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. 13 And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”
14 So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed.
15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan.
17 So Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? 18 Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” 19 And He said to him, “Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well.”
WHERE ARE THE NINE??? Our Lord came to heal all of fallen humanity, but only a small portion actually receive Him in faith and thanksgiving TO GIVE GLORY TO GOD (v. 18). "Many are called, but few chosen" (Matthew 20:16). A lesson for all Orthodox Christians is that worship is our number one priority.
Matthew 20:16
So the last will be first, and the first last. For[a] many are called, but few chosen.”
The Kingdom of God is an upside down Kingdom, the last will be first and the first will be last. Many are called, but few chosen is referring to those who truly accept God and enter into that active personal relationship with the Lord, and that is something He desires from us all. I finally understand this verse and it has do with us having pure hearts and not treating God like He is nothing but a genie in a bottle.
"Think on all these (words and miracles), so that when you see me hanging on the Cross, you will not imagine that I am suffering because I am powerless to do otherwise." (Theophylact).
"In moments of desperation, we offer up Hail Mary prayers, even promises to be more faithful if on,y God would intervene the way we want Him to. And then, just like those who called Jesus, "Master" when it served their purposes but didn't really mean it, we sometimes don't look back once we get the thing that drove us to Him in the first place. We treat the King of the universe like He's a wishing granting genie, missing entirely the better thing: an intimate, soul steadying, peace regenerating, forever relationship with the One who loves us enough to draw near.

I spoke a great deal on how it was my struggles with PTSD that truly led me to Jesus.
Numbers 6:24-26
“The Lord bless you and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
26 The Lord [a]lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.” ’
